Read a New Book Month: Last Stop on Market Street

In celebration of New Book Month this December, take a look at one of our favorites, Last Stop on Market Street.

Little ones love familiar favorites read over and over again, but we can always take opportunities to share new books.

The award-winning Last Stop on Market Street is a heartwarming story about love, beauty, and kindness told through a simple bus ride shared by a young boy and his grandmother.

The picture book by Matt de la Peña is worthy of a place on your must-read list. The tale of CJ and his Nana as they ride the bus through the city after church won the coveted 2016 Newberry Medal, 2016 Caldecott Honor, and 2016 Coretta Scott King Illustrator Honor.

During the bus ride, Nana helps CJ see the beauty in all the people around him. Illustrator Christian Robinson highlights the tale through simplistic collages, which have a childlike quality. His work displays people of all races, ages, and sizes showing the beauty in all of humankind.
